Shizuoka Prefecture is located Tokai District on the Pacific side of Central Japan. There are 151 species of land and freshwater molluscs found in Shizuoka Prefecture. 26 species in them had been reported Shizuoka Prefecture as type localities.
Besides the introduced species such as Allopeas javanicum, Zonitoides (Zonitellus) arboreus, Limax marginatus, they are consisted of the following three elements.
(1) The spcies distributed throughout Shizuoka Prefecture and widely spread in Central Japan, namely Nipponomirus reinianus, Megalophaedusa martensi, Satsuma (Satsuma) japonica and Euhadra eoa.
(2) The species mainly distribted in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture and Kanto District east of this Prefecture, namely, Chamalycaeus nipponensis, Pinguiphaedusa hakonensis, Stereophaedusa (Breviphaedusa) gouldi, Euhadara peliomphala and Euhadra quaesita.
(3) The species mainly distributed in the western part of Shizuoka Prefecture and Chubu and Kinki Districts west of this prefecture, namly, Tyrannophaedusa erberi, Mundiphaedusa hosoyaka, Mundiphaedusa kawasakii, Mesophaedusa mikawa and Satsuma (Satsuma) ferruginea.
